Samba over ssh
 

I'm using Fedora 7 and Windows XP SP2.
I'm completely lost on this, so any help would be appreciated

Samba is a file server that allows you to share file between linux and windows so if you have one system with linux you can store files on the linux box from the windows box.

If you are dual booting and only have one pc, then the best thing to do is set up a partition as a FAT32 and use that partition from either windows or linux. example /linux partition/---/FAT32 partition/---/windows partition/ both OS's can share files/music/picture/ in the FAT partition.

ssh stands for secure shell, its kind of like telnet only encrypted, there again if you are dual booting ssh is not going to make any difference. But if you have more than one pc you can use ssh to work on the linux systems remotely. Along with ssh is also scp which works from the command line to transfer files from one linux box to another. You can use a program called Putty to remotely work on a linux box from windows also.

You want to remote into your windows box from your linux box then?

Look up rdesktop then, it's the linux version of remote desktop in windows. You'll have to make sure you are connected to a router or a hub or using a crossover cable to connect the two pc's. Also you'll need to setup remote desktop on windows (not a big deal at all).
