SAMBA installation failed on mandrake 9.2

I have recently installed mandrake 9.2 with dual booting (xp). Everything is doing fine for a greenhorn like me but the problem is I can not install the SAMBA or DHCP servers. Everytime, whenever I try to install, it says ¨installation failed¨. When I downloaded the packages from OPENBSD site and tried to install it, it first informed me ¨there is bad signature, you still want to continue¨, when I said yes, immediately it replied ¨everything is already installed¨. I am a layman just trying to switch from windows, any kind advice from any good samaritan will be highly appreciated.

Cheers

first go to network configruation and add the domain of the network, then

you will be having a smb.conf file in /etc/samba/ directory

just open the file in a editor

uncomment the following lines, and fill the details

workgroup=your workgroup

server string=your server string for eg samba server

log file
max log size
security=user
encrypt password=yes
samba passwd file=/etc/samba/smbpasswd

at the end of the file you will see
[myshare]
specify the users for samba ( any one of the linuxOS user)
the directory you want to share, and rest of the details
and save it

now copy /etc/passwd file to /etc/samba/smbpasswd

come back to home dorectory
execute the command " service smb start" to start the samba server

SAMBA installation failed on mandrake 9.2

Thanx for your kind and instantenous response. I have changed the smb.conf file. But after copyin the /etc/passwd to /etc/samba/smbpasswd and getting back to home, when I issued command service smb start, it responded with ¨service not found¨ and showed various options of service etc. Also please tell me what are the ftp port no. generally used in a proxy server under linux.

Regards
