samba bdc function

Hello linux guru's

as a newbie i tried followed some how-to's of samba-ldap configuration to centos 5.5 box. I have to say it went good after several tries of re installing and re configuring the box. I am just curious on about the samba bdc, our samba-ldap pdc is only serving 70 windows xp clients, should I also put another centos box that will act as the bdc?

in short I have no ideas what is the capsbilities of samba bdc, it it like a caching server for the clients request or just a mirror of the pdc?
