Samba & Filenames from XP

This is more of an annoyance than anything.

I am working on a mapped network drive from XP to my Samba Server / Mandrake machine. (Z:/). I went to save some images in Photoshop on my XP box to the Linux box, and it clipped the filename from:

missa_brevis_conservatory_medres.jpg

to

missa_brevis_conservatory_m.jpg

I can go into explorer in windows and change the filename (rename) it on the Linux box no prob.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Strange. Does it always truncate overly-long names to 31 characters?
