I have some new Sun thin clients connecting to a RedHat server running Sunray Server and Star Office 8. My question is this: If I go to smb://computer_name/share_name, it opens, but Star Office cannot open the documents. The only way I could get it to open docs was to mount the smb share. My concern is that in the thin client environment, we are going to have some users with different access to folders than other people. What is the best way to mount SMB shares so they are dependent on the user's access to Windows shares? When the SMB share was mounted, after I authenticated to the Windows server, anyone who used the mount had the same access to the network that I had.

And welcome to LQ!

I've split your post out of the unrelated thread, and created
a new one of it, good luck with the inquiry! :}

Cheers,
Tink
