ok so heres whats going on i just recently got a new dsl line brought to my house and it adverts 3500kb/s dwn and 768kb/s up but i ran a test and it turns out that im only getting 1750kb/s dwn and 650kb/s up i can care less about my upload because thats close enough to what it says but i looked deeper into the 1/2 way job on download....
it turns out my tcp receive window (rwin) is wacky... its target range for my set up is ~37,000-87,000 yet dslreports.com claims its up over 210,000 and its f-ing up my speed
theres allot of things to fix this in winblows but its allot harder in linux (yet more accurate if you do it right) a google search shows all sorts of ways of doing it by adding things to /etc/sysctl.conf and simular files but.... in my up-to-date kernel none of that works due to the fact that its "auto tuning"... if its really doing that then why are things fudged up so bad?????
btw heres the dslreports link
