Running SuSE 9.1 and Windows XP - and some questions about partitioning

I originally had WinXP on my computer and switched to Mandrake Linux. I originally planned to have both XP and Mandrake but the partitioning wouldn't work so I went for just Mandrake.
I had some problems with Mandrake so I switched to SuSE 9.1.
SuSE is working great but since I can't seem to find a DVD burning software that works for Linux I'll need windows XP again.

I have a few questions...

When I installed SuSE, it asked about partitioning. Since I'm not really familiar with the whole thing, I just went with the default. It never asked me if I wanted to delete Mandrake or not. When I boot, it doesn't give me the option of booting Mandrake so I'm assuming that Mandrake is gone. Am I right?

Before I re-install Windows, I am thinking of trying Win4Lin. Has anyone ever tried it on SuSE? Did it work well?
Will my DVD burning software be able to detect the DVD drives? (it doesn't detect them when I use WINE)

If I go ahead and create a separate partition for Windows... what is the easiest way to do this?
Is it easier to install SuSE first? or Windows first?
(my important files are already backed up on cd-roms so I'm not worried about deleting anything from the hard drive)

Will the ntfs filing system be a problem?
Should I go for another version of Windows instead?

Also, if anyone knows of good instructions on how to create partitions that'd be great. (I'm new to all this and I'm not too sure of what I'm doing)

K3B can burn dvd's it uses growisofs, I would give this a go before you give up on Suse.

Problem is my DVD burner only copies single layer so when the original is double layer, I need to be able to copy only the main movie (without the speical features). K3b doesn't give me that option.
