Question Running SLOW

I'm a , so hello fellow comp. nerds

I recently installed Linux personal desktop 8.0 (all packages) and it's running *very* slow. I think it might have something to do with the IRQ's...? Maybe BIOS; I don't know. I just know I need it running a whole lot faster. I know it's at least a fast as any WinX, if not faster....
