Running Puppy Linux from a Flash Drive
I've heard that it's possible to run Puppy Linux from a folder on a Flash Drive. Can someone point my nose in the direction of a tutorial for doing that? I've downloaded Puppy and burned the iso to a CD. It boots up fine but my computer won't boot a USB drive. Does this make it impossible to run Puppy from my Flash Drive??

Funny, I just read an article about Puppylinux in LXF today and wondered the same thing. I had a document around here a while ago that gave instructions on how to use knoppix or another distro on a USB stick/flash drive, so I started wondering if the same thing could be possible with the 70MB version of Puppy Linux.
I sure want to investigate it today or tomorrow, since I'm in the middle of a busy day (it's clock day on NG and I need to vote a lot...) but I sure want to install it on a USB drive and see how it runs! |
This works like a dream from my USB flash drive. I had problems getting it formatted correctly. There are descriptions on the Puppy linux website.
In addition you might want to look here: http://www.oreillynet.com/digitalmed...lash_driv.html The HP tool did the job. Also remember that PC bioses can be a pain with booting. Not all support booting from flash drives and some have some strange settings in the boot order to make it work. |
