running linux without HDD filesystem
I have a single board computer with a flash card socket. I want to set up a system without a diskdrive which will tolerate a hard reset. Optimum would be booting linux from RO flash into ram and running from there with no disk calls. Is this possible? Any clues to how to set this up??. A vmlinuz boot would appears to do this, but always seems to look for a HDD filesytem. And is it possible to compile a program into a kernel to make a standalone application which runs on bootup under such a regime? Thanks..
