Running bcompare => /home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare/BCompare: No such file or directory

After installing "Download Beyond Compare 3" on my ubuntu 64-bit Desktop (/home/ssun/Desktop/bcompare-3.1.10.11626) via http://www.scootersoftware.com/download.php and follow /home/ssun/Desktop/bcompare-3.1.10.11626/README to install this tool as my id ssun, the error described on the Subject was displayed and no BC screen was desplayed.
uname -a
Linux ssun-desktop 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 02:39:34 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

1) ./install.sh (result => Executable is /home/ssun/bin/bcompare)
2) $HOME/bin/bcompare =>
/home/ssun/bin/bcompare: /home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare/BCompare: No such file or directory/home/ssun/bin/bcompare: /home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare/BCompare: Success
ssun@ssun-desktop:~/Desktop/bcompare-3.1.10.11626$

ssun@ssun-desktop:~/Desktop/bcompare-3.1.10.11626$ ls -l/home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare/BCompare
-rwxr-xr-x 1 ssun ssun 19982966 2010-03-23 14:13 /home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare/BCompare

Inside $HOME/bin/bcompare, the following two lines are set.
BC_LIB=/home/ssun/lib/beyondcompare

EXEC=$BC_LIB/BCompare

Can any one install and run this Beyond Compare tool on the ubuntu 64 bix box successfully list steps fix this problem? Thanks.

After installing some X11 related packages, I was able to bring up bcompare successfully.

As you have said you read the README file, I am assuming you downloaded the tar.gz file.
Is there a reason you did not use the rpm? (might install nicer)

Also, did you read the disclaimer on the link "supported distros" under the Linux section for downloads?

also Linux is NOT like MS Windows
tring to install .or build, software on your "Desktop" is not a good idea
the .desktop is a odd/special type of folder

try it from a "build" folder in your ~/home folder

- Used tar, ran install with prefix=/usr/local/
- installed libqt3-mt from synaptic package manager (was already installed btw)
- wget http://ubuntu.mirrors.tds.net/ubuntu...untu3_i386.deb
- sudo dpkg -x libqt3-mt_3.3.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb .
- sudo cp ./usr/lib/libqt* /usr/lib32/
