Running a Toshiba SG20 as my webserver
Hi, I am completely new to linux.
I was given a Toshiba Magnia SG20 server, but do not know how to use it as a webserver. I heard I had to install webmin, but have no idea how to install. The SG20 has no screen/videocard, keyboard or mouse. I can access it via my (windows XP) network and via explorer (192.168.1.1). If I access it via explorer I get the toshiba menu, where I can't do anything but create the running options for the server it self (WAN, LAN etc.) I would like to put my own website on the server (currently running on Apache on a webbased server.....) This would mean I have to install things like MySQL etc. I have no idea what to do..... is there a way to install applications like Apache, linux redhat (both should be available on the SG20 already.... but I have no clue about this) perl, MySQL etc. via Windows XP onto the server? Is there anyone that knows how the Magnia SG20 works? Thanks in advance Jorryt:newbie: :newbie: |
This server accepts ssh connections. So, you have to install a ssh client into your XP box, log in to your server and ... start learning CLI stuff. I do not use Red Hat myself, but I'm sure there is some good documentation available at redhat web site.
