runnin a counterstrike server in mandrake?
 

hi im a idiot who needs help! I wana run a half-life counterstrike server as i have one in windows and its not reliable enough so im trying to use mandrake 9.2 download edition. i got a guide to help me but i cant save in the dir that it said to /usr/games. please help me please please. i need some one smart and if u tell me then u got my respect!

i have the hlds server files in a /. hlds (or whatever directory u want) is created by root in /:

mkdir /hlds

and it is owned by me:

chown -R erik.erik /hlds

now extract the tar ball files in /hlds with erik as the logged in user. user erik is the hl/cs administrator here - no need for root.

the hl/cs server files doesn't have to be in the folder '/usr/games'.

it wont let me mkdir :cannot create directory '/hlds ' : permission denied

su to root.
