rt3070sta.ko no such file or directory on Slackware
 

I'm trying to install a WiFi Wireless IEEE 802.11N/G/B WLAN 150Mbps Network Adapter USB2.0 on Slackware. I get the following message when I enter "make install."

cannot stat rt3070sta.ko no such file or directory

Do me a favor. Type modprobe rt3070sta. At the command prompt. If you get no message back, run lsmod. If you see rt3070sta in the list that comes up, your driver is already installed, no need to download the driver as you are attempting to do.

Now you just need to set up networking.

When I entered "modprobe rt3070sta" the response was "FATAL: Module rt3070sta not found "

when I tried Ismod I got "command not found."

Iran lsmod. rt280sta was listed.

Driverf listed, driver installed and in use .... now you just have to assign the card ip number settings.

A few things to add: first that your driver may not be working properly for some reason. Second, a question, do you know how to set up networking?

No. When I enter IWconfig, I get wlan1... Access point: Not Associated.

I hate to say this, but I've never hooked up a wireless. My suggestion now is that you open a new question, because odd as it may sound, the question you have now, as worded, may not communicate clearly to others that wireless configuration is the issue now. I'd make the subject the error message you wrote just now.

At the end, do me a solid. If they hook you up, let me know here for future reference: does it work yes or no. If they can't "hook you up and make you legal" we want to simply let people know that under your circumstances (describe them: distribution, type of computer, maker and model network card). You'd be describing this so someone else in your situation will have a quick answer.
