rpmq hanging

Help! I am new to Linux and as a company we use linux for our mail servers and Internet as well as VPN server. We operate on Redhat 8. The server had hanged this morning and a process rpmq was killing the CPU.

Can any one tell me what this is?

rpmq is part of the redhat package manager software (/usr/lib/rpm/rpmq).

I don't know though if this is the same thing that's hanging your server, I can't imagine why it would be.

A google search "rpm system hang freeze" throws out one or two interesting links though...
