RPMdrake won't connect to any mirror.

Hi everyone,

as some of you may have noticed, I have been posted quite a lot of new questions lately but I am new to Linux and would really want to make the switch.

So here's today's problem : when I go to the URMPI GUI "Rpmdrake", i click on "update" then choose a mirror but... none of them work ! Everytime I get the same error telling me that the media is unavailable or poorly configured and that I should go to the Media Manager to fix that.

In the Media Manager, I can't see any sources apart from the 3 CDs. Strange because I can see them under the "Update" fonction... What mirrors should i add ? (I have a MDK 10.1 Community and live in France)

I read the threads on the topic but couldn't find the answer. All the links to the URMPI official pages are down.

Thanks a lot to the good soul that will help me.

Take care,

Matt

Hi there,

I've been using Mandrake 10 / 10.1 for a few months now, and I've found that certain mirrors have a habit of 'going down' occasionally (maintenance?). However, I notice that you say you've tried a few mirrors with the same result...

I've just tried a quick update myself (I'm using 10.0 at the moment) - all seems fine (using a UK mirror)...

So I'm a bit puzzled - are your 'local' sources (eg CD) working correctly?

The only other thing I can suggest is to wait a day or so and try again.... URPMI is one of the best features of Mandrake - in fact, from experience so far, it's a very close rival of Debian's APT. Few of the other distros come close...
