RPM with SRC
As such I am fairly new to Linux and attempting to install gnome-vfs-2.4.0-1ark.src.rpm. I came across a software called LinTar which seems to be WinZip type interface for Linux and requires gnome-vfs-2. I could get this gnome-vfs2 src.rpm on the net.
As such I am not that familiar with building and installing rpm from src. Can someone tell me the exact steps right from scratch how to install a software from a given src.rpm. I could do so for .rpm packages, however not getting it correctly with .src.rpm rpm --rebuild gnome-vfs-2.4.0-1ark.src.rpm gives 'No such file or directory' rpmbuild does not exists. Also I am not sure if any specific dir structure is required for RPM. I have logged in as root and it's Red Hat 7.3. Thanks.. |
why not get a binary rpm?
