RPM problem


How can I get apt to install. This is driving me crazy.

[root@localhost root]# rpm -Uvh rpm-4.2-0.69.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package rpm-4.2-0.69 is already installed
[root@localhost root]# rpm -Uvh apt-0.5.15cnc7-57.rh9.at.i386.rpm
warning: apt-0.5.15cnc7-57.rh9.at.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 66534c2b
error: Failed dependencies:
rpm = 4.4.1 is needed by apt-0.5.15cnc7-57.rh9.at
[root@localhost root]# rpm -q --whatprovides rpm
rpm-4.2-0.69
[root@localhost root]# rpm -Uvh rpm-4.2-0.69.i386.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package rpm-4.2-0.69 is already installed

It would certainly help if you mentioned what distribution you were using. If you like apt so much, why not use a Debian-based distro? Or you can use PCLinuxOS, which uses RPMs but has apt pre-installed, or Blag, which is Fedora-based but also has apt pre-installed.

The version of apt you are trying to install requires rpm version 4.4 and you are running or trying to install rpm 4.2.x. What distribution are you using?
