rpm package installation
I'm just wondering, since I'm new to linux and don't even know what a RPM is I was wondering if it was possible to install it directly from X Windows, just like in Windows when you open the Explorer and double click the .exe file. Is it possible in Linux, instead of openning the console and typing rpm -ivh etc...

rpm -ivh -Is for install progams bia RPM format.
The linux equivalent an .exe extension is a file mainly files with an extension. Eg. If you go to the directory called /bin there should be all binary (compiled) executables in there. |
Is that the only way of installing an RPM then?
What about other types of apps, I mean I installed StarOffice, that came with SuSE 8.0, and it was really similar to Windows, there was a wisard guiding me through and everything... |
