Thank you Raul Suarez!

So I just go download a .repo file and yum loop up the repository and find the program I want? What if there are same program in different repositories, but I am not aware of it?

Did you read the informatin on the links in my post aboe. You had your questions would be already answered. You don't download anything until you need to install a package. The configuration files, just point apt or yum to the right repository where they can find files.

I wanted to thank everyone for all the responses. You guys have really helped me in my linux learning curve.
