Hello,

First of all, what is linux 5? What distro are you running? Linux 5 is not a distro at all.... But knowing what distro you have will greatly help, as I can tell that you are a beginner with linux. As far as programs, you have VLC, xine, xmms, mplayer - That's just a few. There are a lot out there man.

Cheers,

Josh

Seeing as how you are new to Linux, the easiest method for you would be to get VLC. www.videolan.org

as stated there is no operating system called "linux 5"
however as a guess there ARE THESE
RHEL5.7 ( and 5.6,5.5,... 5.0) NOT FREE!!!
CentOS 5.7 ( and 5.6 ) - free
Scientific linux 5.7

if red hat 5.? you MUST buy a license
if cent then see the wiki
http://wiki.centos.org/

but be warned on RHEL or one of the free rebuilds
Audio / video software can VERY VERY VERY easily kill the install
there are A LOT of incompatible rpms
