Well
have someone come across a good newbie documentation about routing under Linux?

Routing is rather a broad subject. What do you want to route from where?

Say I've got a network with 10.1.1.x/255.255.255.0 and another with 10.1.2.x 255.255.255.240

I would like the first network to access some resources such as Files or at least to ping the other network.

Don't know off hand, but sections 3 & 4 in the guide I posted deal with this. Maybe someone else will figure it out for you. I'm not ;)
