Question root vs user


Hi all,

I'm totaly newbie.I'm reading book Running Linux 4th ed.Don't know much.Learning.Ok,point is that I need to know how can i run Firestarter on my Mandrake, Kde 3.1 as user,not root.Everytime it says something like "error...you must have root privileges to use it".....but i won't be signed as root to use it.

I would recommend Guarddog instead, as when you start it as a user it will simply ask you for your root password, and carry on loading.
