root password
 

Ok.. I have just installed Slackware 9.1 and I cannot login as root at bootup.
I created a Lilo config file to allow me to dual boot and also added my other NTFS drive, but when installing lilo it did not ask me to set a password as the simple method does, hence I cannot login.

Is there away from the setup to create a password without using the simple method and over writing what I have now?

Btw, Lilo installation has nothing to do with roots
password. I'm sure Slacks installer did prompt you.

I think so. In the expert mode, no it did prompt me for one.

Like Tinkster said, the LILO config has nothing to do with root's password. I am using Slackware 9.1, and after all the install is does, it warns you that there is no passoword set for root, then prompts you to make one.

Long shot, did you try and loging as root without a password?

Yes I did try with no password. Thanks for your replies, I reinstalled and tried again in expert mode and this time I was prompted. I must of missed something on my first install (silly me).

One other thing you may be about to help with.
I am having a heap of hassles mounting an NTFS drive.
I tried:
mount -t msdos -o ro /dev/hdc1 /mnt/hd
and got the error bad superblock or too many file systems mounted.
There is only Linux at the moment.
I also tried vfat (although I know this is NTFS) but got the same error.
What is the correct method so I mount it and also add it to the fstab file.

ntfs is ntfs..make sure the kernel has support
