The only way I can think of is to boot from a LIVE CD/DVD/USB, mount the drive where your Fedora install is located and edit the /etc/shadow file, as user root, and edit the root entry. The format is:

username
colon
cryptic representation of your password
colon
other following stuff

Remove the cryptic representation of your password. That is erase all between the first encountered colon and the second encountered colon, leave the colon characters there. Save and exit, and when you boot your Fedora, your root password should now be blank.

Seems odd to change the root password the way you did.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php..._root_password This may also provide a way possibly.

Excellent point!

I always use the passwd command myself. When you are root, you can use the passwd(1) command to change your password, same as a regular user does. Do not follow other Internet based methods unless you review them sufficiently.
