Evening Gents. Unfortunately the news isall bad. I followed the instructions above:

- copied /usr/* to /mnt/hda6 with -pR
- unmounted hda6
- updated fstab
- rebooted

and it WORKED!

So I delete the old /usr and rebooted and it didn't work. Go figure.

So I copied hda6 back to /usr, changed fstab and rebooted. And that's where I am now.

Thanks to all for the help and patience, it is certainly much appreciated.
