Root EVO 4G via flashing rooted gingerbread rom from a "gold card".

I found an old post on "Tech Petals" where the method is to flash a rooted version of 2.2 from a partition created on your sd card called "gold card". I don't know if this is going to work on my updated evo. I am willing to try anything to defeat this new bootloader. I am having a problem finding the file that has the sd card hex code. I am on the new build 4.22.651.2, hardware version 0004, 2.16 bootloader. I would appreciate any help finding the sd hex code. I am one of those hard headed people who just has to try!

Well this was as close as I've gotten so far. The bootloader loaded the renamed zip file but then never installs. It says "checking PC36IMG.zip" and then loads bootloader. I am taking it as a small victory, however it fails to aquire root.

I had that happen to me a couple time on the same zip file. I re-down loaded it and ran it again. I worked just find. So, it may be a corrupted zip file. Try downloading it from another source, also.

HTC EVO 4G - rooted - Gingerbread

PS Also you should name it update.zip, I've seen people suggest this many times.
