Question rmp to debian


Hi,

I tried to convert rpm file to debian

sudo alien tuxpaint-0.9.21-1.rh9_fc1.i386.rpm
sudo: alien: command not found

but i got following error

sudo apt-get install alien
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package alien

Need help in installing software in linux.

Please post the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file. What release of debian are you running. The more info about your system that you provide the easier it is to help you.

apt.conf.d sources.list sources.list.d trusted.gpg trusted.gpg.d

Debian version is
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch)
Release: 12.04
Codename: precise

1. Your sources.list is incorrect. This will only get you the keyrings for the package repositories but not the packages themselves. Read the instructions on this site: https://wiki.debian.org/SourcesList

2. wheezy/sid (stable/unstable)is not a good idea. Switch either to jessie/sid or just wheezy.

i take it you are NOT aware of what this means

"rh9_fc1"

that is the very VERY VERY dead
Redhat Linux9
Fedora CORE 1
it is from 2002
it is 12 YEARS OUT OF DATE
and for operating systems that have been unsupported for 11 YEARS

There is NO current supported operating system still being used that can even run that OLD program


it is like trying to install a 16 bit Win95 program on Windows 8.1


if you really want the program for ages 3 to 12
