Ripping problems

I'm trying to rip a cd with grip, I'm pretty sure I got it set up right, I've tried using lame and ogggenc and few others for the encoding but XMMS wont play any of the mp3/ogg files i rip. .it plays the .wav files . .but not the compressed versions. .. but the weird thing is KMplayer and Xine will play them : :? And I do have the mp3/ogg plugins loaded with XMMS. Im using KDE 3.1 with Suse 8.2 any ideas?

Make sure you have mpg123 installed. XMMS requires this to be installed to play mp3's and such.

I am playing mp3's with XMMS right now, It plays them fine when I download them and the data disk full of songs i made with windows works fine . I'm thinking something is wrong with the way I'm ripping them.
