Rhythmbox mp3 mp4 support

Hi,

I installed fedora 12 in my laptop (HP -pavilion). I tried to play music using rhythm box. It is playing only .wav and while i try to play mp3 or m4.a files it is logging an error saying that i need additional gstreamer plugins to play those.

I tried to sort our .mp3 issue first. Upon googling, I found that

Quote:
yum install gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly
The result for above is
Quote:
yum install gstreamer-plugins-good gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugly
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Package gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10.23-1.fc12.i686 already installed and latest version
Package gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.19-1.fc12.i686 already installed and latest version
Package gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10.15-1.fc12.i686 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
Even after this I am not able to play .mp3 files.

Help me to get this thing sorted.

Thanks,

Well that certainly should work. rhythmbox stays running in the background when the main window is closed, so you'll need to ensure it's totally properly closed and reloaded before it'd be able to pick up the new packages.

have you had a read through mjmwired's page ?
for f12
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f12.html
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mj...a-f12.html#mp3

the good/bad/and ugly ( good B movie - i have it on dvd ) should do it
but it looks like you missed "gstreamer-ffmpeg"
unless the mp3's are opining in the default totem player, that will ask you to go to the FOR PAY - to buy$$$ the codecs web site
