RHEL5 Installation help on Proliant ML150 G5


HI guys,

I have worked with prolient but it was ML350 and window server 2003 were running on it. but now i have HP Proliant ML150 G5 server and i want to install RHEL5 on it but i really dont know how to install it and how to give mass storage drivers to during installation. I need your help to solved this problem. i m novice to linux so plz help me out.

Ok..what have you tried and done so far?? What kind of controller hardware is in that system? The last Proliant I installed on, needed the "megaraid" and "megaraid_old" drivers loaded, before installation. On the menu, there should be a choice to load kernel modules. That's where you'd do it. But since we don't know anything specific about your hardware, or what you've done and tried, it's hard to give any specific help.

And, since you have RedHat Enterprise, have you contacted them for help, since you're paying for it with your subscription? They can walk you through installation, if you're having problems.

And please spell out your words.

HP has a page full of downloads for you ML150 G5 server:

I would download the driver file for the storage controller and follow the instructions. More than likely it's a matter of creating a driver floppy disk, then booting the RHEL installation CD, entering "linux dd" at the boot prompt to specify the need to include a custom driver.
