RHEL X Server Problem on my laptop
Hi all,
i'm currently using RHEL WS Update 3 on my laptop HP Compaq nx6325. I have successfully installed the RHEL few days ago and the OS ran smoothly. However, when i restarted the laptop today, the following problem pops up: "Couldn't start X server, trying with a fresh configuration" I have tried out the commands like startx, rehat-config-xfree86 -- reconfig, startx >& /tmp/startx.out -- but those don't work, thn i have gone to the level 3 with no GUI: # init 3 (switch to runlevel 3) # redhat-config-xfree86 --noui (re-generate xfree86 config file with default values for a generic multi-sync monitor and video card) -- but there's still no change. What could be the solution? Or it's a fact that i can't run this OS on my laptop? Many thanks! |
I would suggest that you visit; http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
and download/install the the ATI Proprietary Linux Driver (click on the Drivers & Downloads link top of page). |
