RHEL 6.5 defaults 1280x768 screen resolution

During installation of RHEL 6.5 using kickstart i give

xconfig --defaultdesktop=GNOME --depth=24 --resolution=1024x768 --startxonboot

but the screen resolution defaults to 1280x768.

More details are needed. Do you mean the INSTALLATION runs at 1280x768, or is that the final, installed, desktop resolution? Can you go in and manually change it later? If you do a manual installation, does the card/monitor get properly probed then? How many lines/settings do you have in the xorg.conf file in Kickstart now? Tried removing all the ones you don't want?

Unless you're installing this on machines that are all identical, you may have problems with screen resolution. And since you're using RHEL, are you PAYING FOR IT? If so, do you have support, and have you tried using it?

Also the gnome Login screen and the Desktop are set in different places
so you can have two different resolutions

is this a LCD or a old Vacuum tube screen

I am using a RHEL 6.5 Beta actually.

- like i said i am installing using kickstart file.
- the final screen shows up as 1280x768 resolution while according to my kickstart file default resolution should be 1024x768

- i can change it manually later , and also with command xrandr 1024x768 but what i really want is to set the default screen resolution using the kickstart file
- i have LCD screen
- i check under /etc/X11 and there is no xorg.conf file
