RHEL 5 CD/DVD Creator
Hi - I am simply trying to burn a DVD, but getting very irritated instead. I try to use the pull-down GUI "CD/DVD Creator" , drag files over to the window and hit "write to disk". Another win opens and it shows a "write disk to" selection to FILE IMAGE. It appears you can select something else (other than FILE IMAGE) by seeing the up/down arrows on the RHS, but no, there is no other selection. I'd imagine it would be "The actual CD/DVD drive"... Anyone know what's going on here? It appears that the "CD/DVD Creator" GUI does not see the DVD drive at all. Any ideas?

that uses the gnome2 burner "Brasero" , as i recall it has been busted for some time ( and still is )
install k3b Code:
su - what version of the older rhel5 are you using ? Code:
cat /etc/redhat-release as i recall the "drag and drop" years ago in rhel5 never worked well ( but 5.6 was the last i used before installing CentOS6) have you looked on the Redhat knowlage base you DO have the paid for required!!! support contract ? that gets you access login to the redhat site with the credentials you set up with the required license and search for "burn cd / dvd" https://access.redhat.com/site/ https://access.redhat.com/search/bro...al_language=en -- for rhel4 but basically the same https://access.redhat.com/site/docum...isks-cdrw.html also what dvd's are they ? dvd +r ? dvd -r ? or dvd +- r ? or dvd rw ? |

CD/DVD Creator in RHEL 5.2/5.7
Thanks John and JJJCR - The OS is RHEL 5.7 The DVDs are DVD-R
New development: I managed to find another RHEL5 machine (5.2) that a coworker manages, and I tried a DVD burn with the same "CD/DVD Creator"... This time when I did it, there were TWO SELECTIONS for output/target: (1) the actual DVD drive "jibberish name" came up and (2) "FILE IMAGE" (like I got before). I selected the DVD drive option. I then successfully burn a dvd and could read it afterwards! So, I need to read up on the links y'all supplied to get some hints on how to get the DVD drive "name" into that GUI selection window. Also, I do have the redhat paid subscription(s)... I just did not go there yet. I have better luck anyways coming here 90% of the time. THANKS ALL! |
