RHCSA lab setup on Windows host using virtualbox Centos image

Hello,

I am trying to setup a lab for RHCSA since my PC doesn't support hardware virtualization,so someone suggested me to use Virtuabox on windows 7 machine and use the centos images from virtualboxes website and use the centos image.

I wanted to create the following setup of 3VMs as follow

host name : server.example.com on 192.168.2.200
host name : insider.example.com on 192.168.2.100
host name : outsider.example.com on 192.168.3.200

However when I do the setup and start the server and insider machines they are unable to talk to each other . It looks like I have not configure the interfaces properly they are able to ping themselves but unable to ping each other.

Can someone please tell me how to setup the network for these vms.My physical machine which is on windows 7 is not wired and its only connected to my wifi router on wifi network.

Which virtual box you're using, vmware or Oracle virtualbox. If it's vmware, then check this link and this one.

need more details.
  1. have you given same subnet mask for both of them? show ur ifcfg-eth0 files.
  2. what type of network you have attached to in VB? are they same? bridged/nat or other.
  3. can you ping to google.com?

Hello Guys,

The main issue is that I m not familiar with this NAT thing and driving me nuts,my level is very basic anyways here are two snapshots that may help you give more clues

m using the same network settings for both machines as visible in one of the pictures.

Couple of points:
  1. you should not edit manually files under '/etc/sysconfig/networking/' directory. It is used by 'system-config-network' tool, which redhat says is now deprecated. You should use files under '/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/'
  2. it seems you have cloned one guest from other. Both UUID and HWADDR of both boxes are same. This should not happen.

Do the following:
  1. in VirtualBox, select each VM, goto Settings, select Network and note-down MAC address of both machines. Replace that address in respective VM's in '/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0' file.
  2. Remove UUID line from '/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0' file.
  3. Remove '70-persistent-net.rules' file in '/etc/udev/rules.d/' directory.
  4. Reboot virtual machine.
