Hi all
So far i have been chicken ....but i need an answer if any of you genuinely knowledgeable people can supply it . Can i install Red Hat 9 into/onto vmware ie a virtual machine ? and if so does any one know how as i have zero literature with my copy .
Ta
Create the VM with appropriate specs (at least 128ram if u want X(GUI), and give it say 2 gigs of space)
put in the redhat CD, or use the iso files(you can mount them as virutal cdrom in vmware), when the vm starts up press f2 to get in the bios, change the boot sequence so that it boots the cdrom first, then boot from it. After you see the redhat prompt just press enter and follow the onscreen instructions. And since it's a vm with one single empty hdd you can let it auto partition for you.
Hi and thanks for your time . I have since found out that apparently my version of vmware 4.0 does not support rh9 Or so it says on the support page at http://www.vmware.com however i think i shall have to find a later version and give it a go as i like the idea of virtual machines and guest o/s's to play around and learn with .
Ta
