RH9 on a Dell Inspirion 8000
 
I have been trying to install RH9 on my Dell laptop, but it fails everytime when it gets to the monitor install. I can fake RH 8 into thinking the generic 1600x1400 monitor and it will start, but when I try and do the same to RH9, it cannot start Xwindows.
Any thoughts or has anyone figured out what the proper monitor is on an install of RH9?
I even tried Fedora core 1 & 2 and it crashes on those because they cannot see the monitor...Help?

I hate to say it, but my bro has had just the same problem on his older latitude. No luck yet - not even with other disrtos, still working on it. Weird cause - it's an HP desktop - but mine runs Red Hat 7.2 just fine...

Check out www.linux-on-laptops.com. You might be able to find some answers there. I'm running Debian on a Dell 5150 and got no problems with that.
