RH9 (newbie) networking

I installed RH9 at the weekend on a spare machine. I'm not ready to make a total switch to Linux just yet, but the aim is there... Anyhoo, my adsl cnxn runs from my Win2k box. It's an internal PCI modem. I want to share the connection with my new Linux box but I'm struggling to get this going.

This is what I think I know:

I have to enable networking in Win2k and have netbios and TCP/IP services installed. I have to set my internet connection as sharable. I have to assign each machine an IP.

I've done all of this giving win2k 192.168.0.1 and RH9 192.168.0.2
I have a fixed IP address with my adsl, should this be the gateway address? WHat about DNS servers - do I need to specify these?

I'm all a bit confused here, if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be grateful.

i think you should be better with dhcp enabled in linux machine rather than giving it a fixed ip. when you enable sharing in win machine the default ip would be 192.168.0.1 and from that all the machines can get their ip's automatically.

if you do this you dont have to worry about what ip's you have to specify for the gateway and dns serives.

all the best
