RH9 boot freezes @ Module Dependencies
 

Okay, hopefully someone can help me...

I've installed Redhat now 4 times in a row, only to encounter the same problem time and time again. I boot up into Linux, Linux is doing all that great stuff detecting hardware and such... then it starts looking for Module Dependencies, I hear the hard drive crunching away for about 4-5 seconds, then pffff... nothing. system hangs. Keyboard wont work, etc. Only way I can reboot is to hit the power switch. If anyone can help tell me what steps to take in order to fix this problem it would be most appreciated.

If my system specs will be of any help, here they are:
AMD Duron 700MHz @ 850MHz
ASUS A7V
128MB PC-133 RAM + 64MB PC-133 RAM
AOpen 6x4x32 CDRW
LiteOn 32x CD-ROM (LTN382)
Maxtor 88400D8 (WinXP Partition)
Maxtor 93652U8 (Fat32 Data drive on Promise ATA100 Controller)
Seagate ST36531A (All Linux Partitions)
HP A4331D Monitor
ATi Radeon 32 DDR

ummm... I'm just curious... how come no one has replied? :cry:

well I'm still having trouble... I found information on one website to just press Ctrl-C and skip the process, but then it freezes on "looking for new hardware"... can anyone contribute to help aid my woes?

Check in your bios if plug and play is enabled. If it is, change it. Yours might be different, but mine had three settings, on, off, and another one (at work right now so I can't check :)) and I set it to the third option.

I had the same problem and this fixed it nicely.

thanks for the suggestion, however there was no third option in my bios :/ I tried fiddling with some bios settings and I'm still here, linux installed but going nowhere :(

If there is no third option then try to start up with PnP disabled.

If that doesn't work, I am out of ideas. As I said, I had the same problem and that fixed it.

Yeah, I tried disabling it, all it did for me was have WinXP hang mid-way booting.
