RH8 mose config problem

Hi! I'v checked out similar threads on mouse config they all seems somewhat equal in symptoms but no solutions posted (or i did not found). I am new to linux an I need help in configuring Generic PS/2 mouse.

The problem is that mouse is not working (moving etc) after startx. But it was known to work while RH8 installation process with no problem.

I've discovered, that when i point it to /dev/psaux - Xserver stops loading itself right after displaying mose cursor (looks like X at that moment). If I point it to /dev/input/mice Xserver loads and I even can use the keyboard (actually i'v tried to use redhat-c0nfig-mouse and mose applet(? - i do not know how its called under linux - similar from windoze controlpanel-mouse) but all this configuration did not help.

I also tried to use protocol "Auto" but the result is negative also.

Could it be that somehow the system does not mount mose driver under /dev/psaux or smth? symlink to /dev/mose follows to /dev/psaux.... and original config was pointing to psaux also...

How can I solve this problem?

P.S. I tried /dev/input/moue0 -- mouse9 and smth about 23 options were left, since it does not work... the only working options are /dev/input/mice - but no mouse actually working and /dev/psaux - which freezes X

Damn. I have no idea how to setup this stuff... I can not understand, why it works correctly under RH setup and why it does not work after. I've checked out XF86 configuration from setup, where the mouse is working and copied to "real" XF config. It doesn not work... as well as keyboard. The config is_the_same_as_on_setup.

what additional libraries does RH load that it is not loadswhen setup? maybe there is somekinda dll conflict or smth?

Ialso checked out /var/logs/XF86 log to see if there are any errors - no, no error messages, all works well... whattaf...

Seems to be a very annoying problem... Have you tried updating the kernel
