Hi,
I already have windows 7 on my system. I am trying to install Redhat linux 5.5 to install Oracle Database 10g but my system is not supporting installation some how, when I start to install, it just turns to black screen after installation started and can't complete. I also tried to install RHL 6 and just able to install text base not the Graphic one and again mouse did not work? Can anyone help me to sort out this hroblem? I have hp pavilion dv5 intel corei3 with enough RAM and disk spaces for multiple OS.

instead of messing around with RHE, this requires a SLA in the first place, use CentOS.

http://www.centos.org/

grab the latest installer and make sure to test media before attempting to install. that should work for you.

Good luck..

post back with DETAILED errors etc...

Also the current Centos in the older 5 series ( CentOS 5.9 )
already has MySQL installed and used by default

if all you need is a database ,and not a OLD version of Oracles server class 10g DB
-- the current database form oracle is the 11g
mysql is already installed

but if you MUST use the older RHEL5 then please use the current RHEL5.9
and buy the required support contract
-- for a single desktop install
https://www.redhat.com/apps/store/desktop/
-- server license
https://www.redhat.com/apps/store/server/

and contact Oracle for install help on the old 10g Database

it will install on CentOS 5.9
but will run much better on Oracles own operating system that you can buy a license from Oracle to use it .

Hi:

Before you put any Linux distro on your computer you should consider shrinking the Win's 7 partition.
I shrunk my Win's 7 partition; had to otherwise I could not install Fedora 17 on my laptop-

Good luck!

I found that it is because of the hardware problems. I installed multiple OS on my another system and taking advantages of each os as i wished for.
Thanks!
