RH 9 agonizingly slow this am

Not sure why. The graphic interface takes forever to load, especially the splash screen that shows what it is checking.

I noticed on bootup that cannaserver was taking forever to load, so I did some research and figured I didn't need that. Took it off startup list in Webmin. Also noticed sendmail was taking forever and took that off startup list.

The only thing I can think of that I did differently is that I forgot to stick a tape in for last night's cron backup job.

I am using it for a webserver (Apache 2.0.40). Would appreciate any help since I don't want to monkey with something I'm not sure about.

You can use the top command to see what is running and what is using all of the system resources. See:
man top

Start top in one alternate console, start the GUI in a second alternate console, and switch back to the first alternate console to watch top.

Jailbait, thnx for t the advice. For some reason, it all started speeding up by the afternoon. But I'll keep the top command in mind. Have a feeling it might have been the backup running....
