RH 8.0 won't connect with my adsl.

I have winxp and i've just installed redhat 8.0, i have a speed touch home adsl modem, i've configured the network card correctly (i think), and i have configured my IP address, gateway and DNS, after i start the conection my modem is activated and the conection is succesfull, but when i use the netscape or opera they can't find the addres of the internet pages... my modem indicators flash, so i know that some transfer of data is ocurring but why cant i access the internet pages?. any help will be apreciated.

I have a Cable modem and I am using a router and DHCP is assigned to my connection. I am curious since most do not assign IP address have you tried using DHCP as alternative. Also in NIC disable and reenable the NIC if you have samba make sure it is enblaed as well.

You're not the first person I've seen who's had a problem with a speedtouch modem. If it's a USB modem I would check out some of the other threads that have already been started on the subject. Search for "speedtouch" in the forum.
