RH 7.3 starts in text mode, GUI selected


Install went fine, GUI present until I did a shutdown and restart. Came up in text mode. 2 Q's. Q1- How do I fix and Q2- Why

Hey this may be a rookie reply because i am a rookie.

But check in /etc/inittab file and where it says:

id:x:initdefault:

if you want to start in gui or X11 environment set it to 5. Should be run level descriptions in the file which are self explanatory.

I had the problem once and that came from the video drivers. X couldn't start because the drivers were not the good one.
