Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

Hi there. I have tried to install RH 7.3 (Valhalla) on my x86. When the install get to certain files, it just can't find them. My CD-rom whirrs and girrs for about 3 minutes, and then I get an error telling me that the file cannot be found. A few are "xscreensaver", "tmidity", and "traceroute". I have been able to find these by restarting my install without them. (By choosing select individual packages and turing them off). The fact that I can skip the files and install other 'not missing' files leads me to belive that I still do have some space on my HD. This occurs only on CD2. May happen on CD 3, but I haven't got that far. It is not a burn problem, or a fingerprint-on-CD-surface problem, because I have made 3 "working" copies of CD 2 so far (it gets a few files off of it). So what is up with the missing files? Is RH that incomplete, that they don't even fix their installs?
Also, I tried the media checking program, and it also whirrs and girrs when it gets close to the end, and well... doesn't stop. Whirred and girred in the same place for about 15 minutes (and then I got fed up, rebooted to windows, and came here).
If this is a common problem with a nice FAQ site that I missed, thanks in adavace for directing me there. Otherwise... HELP!
