Revert RHEL 5.7 kernel to RHEL 5.6 kernel

I was wondering, how to revert from RHEL 5.7 kernel to RHEL 5.6 kernel? Is there a procedure for this? Thank you.

1. download RPMs
2. install RPMs
3. (optional) uninstall 5.7 kernel RPMs
4. check grub.conf to make sure the kernel you want is booted
5. reboot

Thank you AlucardZero. Pardon the ignorance but i was more like trying to think of the worst case scenario wherein i have updated the OS from 5.6 to 5.7 for security patches using "yum update --security". If after the update, the application does not work anymore, i would like to revert it back to the original state before the update and let us assume that the backup failed.

Thank you.

well if you "upgraded" from 5.6 to 5.7
then reinstall 5.6 from your known GOOD back up
you did back up 5.6 before upgrading to a new version

but why not just rebuild this "unnamed application"

most that were built on 5.6 "should" work in 5.7
but some will not sometimes .

rebuild the app that dose not work .

Are you talking about just the kernel or the entire system ??

If just the kernel, don't worry, by default RHEL keeps a few old kernels when installing new ones.

If you're talking the whole system, then restore from backup. But there's almost no chance that something that works on 5.x won't work on 5.y.
