retrieving mp3 info

I'm having a great time with amarok where it displays all the covers for my mp3's (all 4Gb of them), however, some of the mp3's have missing meta tags which means it cant find the correct cover for it. Is there a program (or a script someone has written) in linux which can retrieve such info (or even create the info according to the name of the file itself e.g. it reads the file "radiohead - no more surprises" and then stores Artist = Radiohead and Title =No more surprises) automatically? At the moment i have to click on the "find meta infomation at "musicbrainsz" manually for all the ones which need correcting.... i'll be finished this time in 5 years!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but i didnt know if it was worthy of newbie or software?
