Restoring display

I just installed Fedora Core4 on one of my computers. Everything works but the displayed. It used to be on 800x600 so then i changed it to something like 1024x768(My XP computer uses this on the same montior). It said to restart some service. I do not know how to do that,so i thought restarting the computer will do that, when it does NOT....what to do!!.. Everything is cut off.

are you at a prompt? x isn't starting? if so, login as ur regular user and edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf with nano(easier for noobs).
nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf (as root)
type ctrl+w 1024x768 and hit enter
make the changes back to 800x600
then ctrl+x and y to save.
then exit and that will dump you back into ur user and
type startx then ur desktop should start up.
