Restore video configuration from terminal

Well, I was messing with my SuSE 9.2 video configuration, setting, unsetting and resetting the video card. The thing is I forgot to set one before rebooting so I had no card configured at startup. So it started as text mode, and after trying to run the graphical environment with 'startx', the resulting log is this:

Quote:

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support

for help.
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information.

XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"

It says the new driver is 'ati', so I guess it just got autoconfigured. So I guess it has something to do with the "framebuffer mode", if only I knew what it is... Anyway, could anyone help me to restore my former graphic mode? I hope to learn something after all

Thank you everyone in advance and forgive me if it's a lame problem .

you could run "xorgconfig" to go through the setup again but it's likely that you xorg.conf is there just incorrect.

Check your X11 folder there may be a backup of your xorg.conf If so then just rename it. Your XF86Config file should have all the settings your xorg.conf file had as well, so you could use that for a ref:
cat /etc/X11/XF86Config
