Restore dual boot after re-installation of Windows XP

I installed Ubuntu 8 a week or so ago, and have really enjoyed working with it. I have a 160 G hard drive, and allocated 30 G to Ubuntu. All was working well. Yesterday, my Windows XP wouldn't boot (again!) and I went through a re-installation process. The re-installation process went fine, but now I have lost the dual-boot option upon starting the computer, and so can't access Ubuntu. How do I restore that initial boot option?
Thanks much.

Hi and welcome to LQ.

You should be able to use a repair option with the ubuntu cd.

do you get a boot menu like
1. boot from HD
2. boot from Ubuntu cd
3. repair system (system rescue)

The rescue option with mandriva allows re-installing grub which,

during the process searches for the file systems, confirms if this is what you want.

see how you go.

Cheers, Glenn

BTW, LQ has a fantastic search function where you can check for similar questions.
